Profile Vertical Scale

Q: When I plot a terrain profile in a relatively flat area, can I expand the vertical scale for more detail?

A: The Profile Options button can be used to adjust a number of properties of the path profile.

When you draw a profile, TAP sets the initial scale values based on the vertical and horizontal limits of the distance and elevation values. If the terrain is relatively flat, the limits may not be the best presentation of the profile, as in the example below.

You can click the "Options" button to adjust the range of either axis.

The TAP Terrain Profile Plot Options form is displayed. On the Axes tab, enter the new values for the Y-axis range:

When you click the Draw button, the profile will be drawn with the new properties:
